"A good restaurant is like a vacation; it transports you,
and it becomes a lot more than just about the food."

and it becomes a lot more than just about the food."
Philip Rosenthal
After spending most of my life working in restaurants, I was INSPIRED to make a positive movie about my life that did, by the way feel like a vacation. I loved working in restaurants.
The interview on NPR with the story of "Did I Say Thousand Island?" --a movie which has been seen all over the world is here:
To The Best of Our Knowledge
(There are photos of me trucking for some unknown reason...)
That interview led to a full page story in USA Today and the comment by a physician, who worked in restaurants while in school, that made it all worth it:
"It isn't everyone who is passionate or cares enough about the human experience to get people talking and hopefully improve some aspect of the world we live in...and you have done just that. You're not just a waitress or a film maker. You're a humanitarian, and for your hard work and sense of social responsibility in serving this slice of life to the masses, you are to be applauded and congratulated with our many thanks."
I made the movie hoping to help change people's attitude towards those of us in the
restaurant industry so we wouldn't hear these questions...
Why don't you get a
REAL job?
Why don't you DO something with your life?
You're JUST a waitress?
...which they don't hear them in other countries where it's a respected career.

I'm a waitress in my heart and always will be.
Now I'm a trucker too, which has always been my dream.
Still have this movie and I won't give up on finding the right person to remake it.
It's a story that so many people relate to.
Why else would a movie made by a waitress be seen everywhere?
